Field work reports
The second workshop took place on 7.4.2023 for the Kraljevo LSG and 8.4.2023 for the Aleksandrovac LSG and comprised only of field work. Prior to realization of the workshop a new release of the mobile app was issued (6.4.2023), so that the LSG staff could reinstall and use debugged application during the workshop. The following agenda was enacted in both cases:
- brief meeting at specified field location
- filling-in the feedback questionnaire on current LSG capacity in respect of climate resilience on local road network
- visiting all field sites recorded after the first workshop, where difficulties with using the mobile app were encountered
- visiting several field sites that affected local roads in the past and working together with the project team to successfully complete the form per each location.
On the 7.4.2023, three field work representatives of the Kraljevo LSG met with three operative members (team leader, key expert and non-key expert) to fulfil the agenda. The field work was partly conducted in such fashion that it covers one important route, along which the acquired data were used for demonstration of investment plan within the project methodology development. Six locations on local roads were visited. It was preferred to discuss locations with all four kinds hazard types, but location of debris-flow was not enlisted. One of the sites included acute rockfall event, which was excellent opportunity to work together with the project team and avoid any confusion arising from terminology, understanding of the methodology, using the app, etc. The selected route was illustrative for the LSG staff, and useful for project staff to further develop methodological details and debug new issues in mobile application, which resulted in releasing a new version of the mobile app in parallel to the workshop (8.4.2023).
On the 8.4.2023, two field work representatives of the Aleksandrovac LSG met with three operative project team members (team leader, key expert and non-key expert) to fulfil the agenda. The field work was focused on visiting locations that caused confusion during the LSG staff field work between the two workshops. These included all four types of hazards distributed around the LSG territory, that were known for their adverse effect on local roads in the past. New mobile app bugs were discovered and reported to the IT project team. The latest (pre-final) mobile app version released on 20.4.2023. included these debugs and suggestions.
The second workshop outcome in numbers:
- 3 field staff were trained in the Kraljevo LSG
- 2 field staff were trained in the Aleksandrovac LSG
- 6 sites processed in the Kraljevo LSG, working side-by-side (LSG and project teams) covering about 20 km of local road network
- 5 locations enlisted in the Aleksandrovac LSG, working side-by-side (LSG and project teams)
- 1 acute (rockfall) event was recorded
The second workshop was very successful, as users enrolled in the field work were further trained to handle different situations and overcome any technical issues with the mobile app, or misinterpretations of the methodology. It was agreed that the MapLoRds solution will be continuously implemented in the future, whenever a hazard event is affecting the local road network.
